Oil on canvas with no signature. The painting is a copy done by an unknown artist of a painting by Raphael (1483-1570). The artist was possibly one of Raphael’s students. It is a part of the collection given to the DMWC by Major S.H.M Byers and was acquired by him in Europe during the period he served as U.S. Consul General of Switzerland and Italy circa 1870-1890.
