The painting was loaned by the Proteus Club to the Des Moines Women’s Club in the 1913-1914 Club year and given to the club in 1947.

Condition as per Randy Ash’s ’84 review: No surface coating but very crisp and clear. Canvas brittle and sagging, starting to see the stretcher bars. Paint seems very secure. Should put on a good backing and a protective coating.
