Ben Foster

1852-1926

From his birth in 1852 to about thirty years of age, Ben Foster was not professionally involved in art. After likely being inspired by the career of his older brother, Charles, Ben began seeking education opportunities to find a stable career in the arts. Building a name for himself with Tonalist landscape paintings of the New England countryside, critical acclaim and building personal connections with other artists allowed Ben to become quite successful, despite his late start in the industry.
